Upon arrival to our adorable retirement community late last night, we promptly decided we were a fish out of water and we would make the most of it!
When we were looking for a spot to rent late last week, this was about the last Place in town available for us as it is snowbird season!
The neighbors seem precious, one being here for nearly 49 years! I'm thinking we may be the talk of the neighborhood with our pop up tent and four kids...lets just say we weren't short on foot traffic, bicycles and golf carts for most of the morning!
We cooked a little breakfast and lounged in our pajamas for a bit this morning and then let the kids watch a little television while Clay and I did a few push ups, sit ups session and some yoga to get our day started. It was so nice to do outside, and we for sure got some looks at that point.
And as a good portion of you saw, we posted our surprise video of the kids finding out we were taking them to Disney World!!! They had NO CLUE!!! It was super hard to keep it a secret from them!
Now it may seem crazy that a man who's lost his job packs up his family and drives them out on a multi-week camping trip that includes Disney World! Here's what you don't know... Disney has been on our kids' bucket list for years and because of that we have encouraged them to save money given to them for years so that we can help each other get there. These kiddos have saved over $1100 to help us pay for the trip to Disney! When we told them this morning that we were going and that part of the thanks was due to their saving their money, you should have seen the proud looks on their faces. We are over the top excited to help them experience part of their bucket list too. We have wanted to go for years but never wanted to pay to fly and never had enough time off to drive, so here we are with no more excuses!!!
We decided to get out and do some exploring and found ourselves at Disney Springs, formerly known as their Downtown Disney. It was a perfect intro to the world of Disney for the kids. Long lines, heat and lots of people and FUN!!!
We wore our selves out on a half day today and no rides, I can't even imagine what the other days will be like.
Good: Still having a blast, our tent site is directly across the street from the bath house, yoga this morning!
Bad: Cooking multiple meals at a campsite that really isn't set up for "roughing it". Leaving the stroller and water bottles in our car during Disney Springs, because we thought it wouldn't be THAT BIG.
Awesome: Suprising our kids with Disney, a precious friend gifting the kids some money to spend a Disney after they heard our news, how easy going and fun it was to be together today. Helping my kids achieve a bucket list item!!!
Now we are headed to bed, as tomorrow will be a BIG day!!!
Grace and Peace,
Holly, Clay and the Clan
